When I started to use the Live Update system to update he newest anti-virus system, it said that my spaces in the disk is not enough for running the system.

You might have to go to the norton web site and run the support tool, something may have screwed up norton. I had a problem with it with our family desktop. I finally uninstalled norton and switched to AVG, it's free and works a whole lot better.

I'm using Ares and when I started it asked me to block or permit, i chose permit. It worked fine for a month. then when I downloaded Ares onto my brother's account, Norton kept giving us both the permit/block message but no matter how many times we selected block or permt, it would keep doing it over and over agian. McAfee works great for me, but most of my friends use AVG.
I don't use any of the free security solutions. Not that I don't think they won't work well in some situations, but due to how much malware is being created every day, and the fact the virus labs just can't keep up, I prefer to be as safe as possible and so buy a suite from Panda. I have never had an infection, and receive daily and sometimes several times a day, updates.

Everyone is going to have their preferences in security software. As such, this is my preference. I don't care for McAfee or Norton for the simple fact that they put so called ''trial'' software on machines which are prebuilt when the customer has not asked for any such software. These vendors know full well how difficult it is to remove this type of software, with special removal tools needed for most firewalls and anti-virus programs. Panda is the only one I know for sure that can be removed with the Windows Add/Remove applet.

Check your icons next to the clock in the bottom right. if there is an icon for the software right click it there may be a disable option. other wise open the software and search through the tabs and felds in the software for a disable option. You can also look in your task manager (ctrl-alt-del) under the processes tab for anything that could be your security software and end it. If there is nothing running here, you don't have active security software on your pc. Windows has no built in antivirus.

Sorry to say, but you are now in the world of symantec computer Resource HOG...This is a well know fact...If you want to use their AV you have to deal with the load it puts on your computer...

So you have 2 choices...

Microsoft Antispyware is pretty darn good and it removes about 99% of spyware from a Windows PC (ensure it is updated regularly though).

Adaware %26 Spybot S%26D are very good as well if Microsoft Antispyware does not find anything.

I would STRONGLY advise you install Anti-Virus software as well like AVG it's the best free Anti-Virus right now.

You cannot really get round the Anti-virus slowdown problem as they work by scanning each file once they are run to ensure a virus is not launched and infected into your system.

If you want virus free computing use linux :)

I use OpenSUSE, it's really good!

AVG - it's decent and free.

The most important thing to do is always run as a plain user, not an Administrator. This way, if something does get a chance to run, it doesn't have full privileges. Only use Admin to install/remove software. Once you are done, go back to your regular account.

Second, be reluctant to install software. Only install stuff you are confident is safe. Anything you run with the admin account has the ability to do whatever it wants, including installing malicious code.

ok your running vista already wich is a resource hungry operating system as it is. both norton, and macafee are also the same , and will slow your computer to a crawl. i am always highly suspect of anything that comes free witha purchase of a computer and is preloaded like i assume yours was. the program in stores i think is around 60 bucks ,.. so why would they give it to you .. well here is the catch .. you have to subscribe to their update service it may be free for a few months to a year , but you will pay some sort of updating fee once that is done , and let me tell you its not easy to get rid of either.. uninstall still leaves garbage files that still tell you your virus software is out of date ,and need to sign up again to fix the issues (almost sounds like malware) . avast avg software is free,and works great .. i also suggest you get thier anti malware,and spy ware proggys(all from avg as well) .. also download for free spybot search and destroy. with these 4 programs installed and running ,along with windows firewall up , you wont get hacked ,and they all run using less resources then the one single nortons. program that dont protect from all sides .. like the above do..

In scanning your pc, you could schedule it everyday if you practically go to every website with known viruses or download almost everytime,once every week if you're a medium to heavy user or once every month if you're a light to med user.
I scan with Norton every week and I probably don't need to that often because I don't venture a lot.

When I download anything from the internet I always Save instead of Open or Run then close out and go to the downloaded file and right click and scan with Norton before installing or opening.

I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. But it is not free. A free version is available which lacks some features.
I suggest you download the best version of Zone Alarm. It isnt free but it comes with a free trial. You can also just get a serial to unlock it for free off the internet. But i suggest you don't download it and to buy Norton. Taking the precaution of buying Norton (or McAfee) is the best way to go because you can never be to safe. I have norton Antivirus 2005.

Ok so every time i open VeohTV or uTorrent an Internet Worm Protection warning shows up.

It tells me a remote computer or something is trying to access something!!!??

its says if i opened a video game or file sharing program to press permit.

So i do but a few seconds later the same message keeps popping up over and over again telling me to permit or block!!!

I even went to the settings and under VeohTV and uTorrent put permit all but they still keep coming!!!

What should i do so those messages stop popping up when i Open those two programs??

Get rid of Norton. It is the single worst security progam there is, and they make you pay for it!! Get AVG fre edition for your anti-virus, Ad-Aware and Spybot for your anti-spyware, which are free, and use the XP firewall, which is more than good enough for what you're likely doing with your computer. I know that this may not be what you want to hear, But, I have been working on computers for 5 years now. I have found Norton and MacAfee to be the two worst programs there are period.
