yes the free edition is sufficient...been using it for yrs with no probs....and as far as updating mine does it automatically every time i start my comp.....to set right click on the icon by the clock....click "launch avg test center"..click on "service" at the top... click "schedule daily update".....make sure both boxes are checked...chose a time frame from the drop down menu and click "OK"

Absolutely - I have been using AVG for more then 3 years and have nothing but respect for these people - by far the best antivirus that is availble and beats many of those you have to pay for.

Beats all the other free software by far - i had (through work) the chance (or pain) to compare. Now we use it even for work and i have it also on my laptop (as well as the desktop)

Update works flawless and also the virushault is superb. ONLY RECOMENDABLE
AVG is good, if not the best.

you have an option to check for updates everytime ur PC starts. it will automatically download and install the updates. check the settings.
